A LOCAL hospitality training course is proving to be a hit with students and employers alike.
Uvo training has been running government-recognised hospitality courses in Penrith for the past year with huge success.
Head of training Stephen Kirkham said more than 800 people have trained in Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) over the past year.
"Those enrolled in our courses come mainly from Penrith and other parts os Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, and nearly all of them obtain employment within three months," Mr Kirkham said.
"Those completing the course find work in local hotels and clubs but some have moved to Sydney and further afield to regional areas."
Mr Kirkham said Western Sydney offered a pool of young and mature potential workers keen to learn new vocational skills.
They often had greater flexibility than their Sydney counterparts with travel and the work hours needed by employers.
Training is held at Penrith RSL Club.
People interested in undertaking a one-day RSA os RCG course can contact Uvo on 9757 2545 or email
info@uvo.com.au for enrolment information.
Each course costs $80, with discounts available for multiple courses.
